A million words written in a year. Sounds crazy, right? I think to a non-writer, the idea of penning a million words in a year sounds so daunting that it would be unachievable. And honestly, if someone would have proposed that I take on the Milwordy Challenge a few years ago, I would have laughed. But now? Oh, I am in for a world of hurt! I've decided to attempt the Milwordy Challenge that others on Youtube and out in the authorsphere are attempting. 1,000,000 words written in 365 days. Yeah, I know. I feel nuts for just thinking about it.
But really, I am so excited! I normally try to write 2,000 words a day as a goal, which ends up being approximately 730,000 words a year. I dont always meet my goal, and sometimes I crush it, but 2,000 words a day is my sweet spot. It keeps me motivated and gives me something tangible to work toward. So, when the idea of the Milwordy Challenge popped up in my writer circles, I did the math. I normally write 7 days a week (I don't like taking days off or I lose my groove), so if I aim for 2,800 words a day, I can meet the Milwordy Challenge with a little bit to spare! I always like a bit of wiggle room anyway, just in case. Where am I going with all of this, then? Starting September 1st, I am going to write 2800 words a day, 7 days a week, for 365 days. And in one year, I will have 1,000,000 words under my belt! This includes words written in stories, words edited, words written for blog posts and newsletters and things of that nature. And I'm going to be transparent here, on the blog! So if you're looking for some fun Milwordy updates, check back here to see how I am shaoing up for the year. But for now, I think I am going to take a rest. The hard work is coming soon!
