NaNoWriMo 2020: How did I do?
It's 12/1/20202 and this year's NaNoWriMo is officially in my rear view mirror. It was a struggle to say the least, having to juggle home life, remote learning with four kids, and trying to write when not taking care of things here. But you know what?
You know what??
I Won NaNoWriMo!
Six years running, baby!!
Honestly? This year was pretty freaking brutal. I had a bunch of really poor days with lower than normal input and it got pretty crushing at times. There were a few days in a row when I considered quitting, just to relieve myself of the stress. But I love writing. Writing is my best stress reliever. I love creating characters and building worlds and watching it all come to life.
That being said, I am not sure that I am happy with the direction of "Escort Quest" at this time. I have the rough draft about 3/4 of the way done and while I feel like the words are good, I'm just not pleased with the in-game story so far. I'm going to keep on chugging with it, moving it forward, but this is a story that's going to require a lot of editing and revision.
And that's okay! Every good story needs a few rounds of edits and revisions. Getting the words in the doc right now is priority.
So, all in all, I'm chalking NaNo up for a win. I barely made it through, but we're all barely making it through 2020 at this point.
December, and 2021, are going to be amazing, though! I can feel it!
